Biography

Right winger Dan Söderström started playing hockey with Horndals IF in 1963 and from 1966-83 played with Leksands IF. With Leksands, Söderström won Swedish titles in 1969 and 1973-75 and was selected to the Swedish Championships all-star team in 1973-75 and 1980. Internationally, Söderström won an Olympic bronze in 1980, won the World Championship silvers in 1973 and 1981 and bronzes in 1974-76. He also won silvers at the 1973, 1976 and 1981 European Championships and bronzes at the 1974 and 1975 European Championships. After finishing his playing career in 1983, Söderström worked as an ice hockey coach. He has coached Leksands IF senior and junior teams, Falu IF and Björbo IF. He was also assistant coach of the Swedish national team from 1985-86. Söderström was awarded the Stora Grabbars Märke (Big Boys’ Badge) #89 in ice hockey.
