Biography

East German speed skater Günther Tilch from Erfurt and later East Berlin competed at the 1960 Squaw Valley and the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. He was 20th in the 500 metres and 38th in the 1,500 metres in 1960, and finished 24th in the 500 metres at Innsbruck. He won the national All-Around national title in 1959, finishing fourth in 1958 and sixth in 1964.

Personal Bests: 500 – 41.8 (1963); 1500 – 2:15.6 (1963); 5000 – 8:35.0 (1965); 10000 – 17:42.3 (1965).
