Biography

Ice hockey forward Rudolf Wurmbrand played with Wiener (Vienna) EG (1942-44 and 1948-49), EK Engelmann Wien (Vienna) (1945-48), Preußen Krefeld in Germany (1950s), and HC Bolzano in Italy (1953-54). Wurmbrand won the Austrian national title in 1946 with EK Engelmann and 1949 with Wiener EG.

Wurmbrand also played for Austria at the 1947-49, and 1951 World Championships, helping them to a bronze medal in 1947. As the Worlds doubled as the European Championships in that era, he also gained the European bronze. At the 1948 St. Moritz Winter Olympics the Austrian team finished seventh.
