Biography

Canoe slalom events – held on the Augsburg course– appeared at the Olympics for the first time in 1972 (and for the last time until 1992). West German Olaf Fricke partnered Michael Reimann in the Canadian doubles and finished a disappointing seventh. One year later both were among the C-2 team members winning the gold medal at the World Championships. Both Fricke and Reimann were born in East Germany.
