Mark Koevermans

A professional player between 1987 and 1994, Mark earned five career titles, of which one was in singles. That singles victory came in Athens 1990, where he beat Franco Davin (Argentina). His doubles wins came in 1991-1993, with Paul Haarhuis (3) and Jacco Eltingh (1). With Haarhuis, Koevermans also reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros in 1990, his best Grand Slam performance. His only Olympic appearance came in 1992, when he reached the third round in the men’s singles.

Following retirement from tennis, Koevermans started his own sporting goods company, later joining US company O’Neill. In 2009, he joined Rotterdam football club Feyenoord as their commercial director. Ten years later, he was made general director, but retired from the position in 2021 after a series of threats from “fans” over the club’s plans for a new stadium. His daughter, Anouk, started playing professional tennis in 2020 as a 16-year-old.
