Description

Located near the current Greek city of Aigio, the ancient polis of Aigion lay in the region of Achaea. The place is also known by the Roman version of its name, Aegium. The most successful ancient Olympian to hail from aigion is Athenodoros, who won the stadion race at the 207th, 208th and 210th Olympics. He is known to also have competed in 57 CE, but did not win on that occasion.
