Cycling Track at the 1964 Summer Olympics

Dates 16 – 21 October 1964
Medal Events 5

For the first time since 1928, the track cycling program changed slightly, with the addition of the individual pursuit. There were now five events, along with the standard kilometre time trial, match sprint, tandem match sprint, and team pursuit. The events were contested on the Hachioji Velodrome, which had a 400 metre cement track which was 65 km from Tokyo center, far enough that the cyclists had their own Olympic village. Italy won both the tandem sprint and the match sprint, gold going to Giovanni Pettenella, while Belgium, Czechoslovakia, and Germany took the remaining three events.
