Alpine Skiing at the 1960 Winter Olympics

Dates 20 – 26 February 1960
Medal Events 6

When Squaw Valley was chosen as the host for the 1960 Olympic Winter Games at the IOC Session, it was little more than an idea. The ski resort was only a dream in the mind of Alexander Cushing, and all that existed there was a hotel and one ski lift. But by 1960, it had been turned into one of the Sierra Nevada’s leading ski resorts. The Alpine events took place on Squaw Peak (men’s downhill), KT-22 (the other men’s events), and Little Papoose Peak (women’s events).
