The beach volleyball schedule for the Paris 2024 Olympics ran from Saturday, 27 July, to Saturday, 10 August, at the Arena du Champ-de-Mars, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, in the heart of Paris.
Each gender had 24 teams with a maximum of two per NOC. The programme included a group stage with six pools of four pairs for the men’s and women’s tournaments. The first and second places in each pool, as well as the two best-ranked third-place teams, qualified directly to the Round of 16, filling 14 of the 16 available spots. The remaining four third-place teams played a “lucky loser” round, with two teams moving on to the single-elimination format.
Beach volleyball matches teams of two players on each side of the net, played on a sand court measuring 16 m long and 8 m wide, which is slightly smaller than the indoor court (18 m x 9 m). The net is the same height as the indoor court (2.24 m for women, and 2.43 m for men). The matches are best of three sets, the first two sets being played to 21 points with at least a 2-point margin, and the possible third set to 15 points, also with at least a 2-point margin.
