Participants	48 from 18 countries
Format	Top 16 teams from round-robin pools advanced to the single-elimination tournament.

Twenty four teams, consisting of 48 athletes from 18 NOCs, competed in the event. The top five ranked teams were as follows: #1 – Sweden with David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig, the 2023 world silver medalists and the #1 team in the world ranking since April 2024; #2 – Norway with Anders Mol and Christian Sørum, the defending gold medalists and the 2022 World champions; #3 – Germany with Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler, who would win the 2024 European Championship, just after the Olympics; #4 – Brazil with George Wanderley and André Stein, the 2022 World bronze medalists; and #5 – Czechia with Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner, the 2023 World Champions. All these five top-ranked teams, plus the French team of Arnaud Gauthier-Rat and Youssef Krou, were top seeded in the draw of the six pools.

In the preliminary round, there was one big surprise to report, as the top seeded Swedish and Brazilian teams qualified for the Round of 16 only as the two best-ranked third-placed teams, after losing 2 of their 3 matches. On their home soil, the two French teams were eliminated without being able to win a single match, while Miles Evans and Chase Budinger (USA) and cousins Esteban Grimalt and Marco Grimalt (CHI) won the lucky loser round and qualified for the Round of 16.

In the knockout stage, the world #1 team, the Swedes, lost only one set against the Cubans Noslen Díaz and Jorge Alayo in the round of 16. Then, they successively beat the Brazilians in the quarter-finals, the Qataris, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, in the semi-finals, and the Germans in the final to claim Olympic gold.

Norway, the reigning Olympic champions and 2022 World Champions, took the bronze medal by defeating Qatar. There were no big surprises, as the top three teams in the world ranking made the podium.
