At all previous Olympic Games, a Russian team had always been on the podium, but it was not invited to these competitions. The main contenders for Olympic gold were the 2023 World Championship medalists Israel, China, and Spain, and the traditionally strong Bulgarian team, the 2022 World Champion.

In Paris, the biggest disappointment was Spain, which did not even reach the final of the competition. The performance of Italy was a revelation, which had finished fourth at the last World Championships. It placed second in qualifying and, in the final, was able to win a bronze medal. Everyone was amazed by the Chinese team, which was fifth in qualifying, and made almost no mistakes to win the Olympic gold. Israel surprised by winning the silver medal after placing only sixth in qualifying.
