Biography

In 1960, with the Olympic début of the Flying Dutchman class, in which Ingo von Bredow and Rolf Mulka had been World Champions in 1956-57, placing third in 1959, von Bredow and Mulka won an Olympic bronze medal with a victory in the final race. Due to an injury von Bredow did not participate in the fourth race and was temporarily replaced by Achim Kadelbach. But as he did not compete in the final race, Kadelbach was not awarded a medal.

His father Hans Kadelbach and his daughter Kathrin Kadelbach were also Olympic sailors. Hans participated in 1952 in the 6-metre class, finishing 10th, and Kathrin finished eighth in the 470 class at the 2012 London Olympics.
