One of China’s many table tennis stars, Wang Hao’s only missing prize in his oversized award cabinet is Olympic gold in the men’s singles. He twice narrowly failed to win that medal, losing both the 2004 and 2008 finals. As a consolation, he did play on the victorious Chinese men’s team at the Beijing Games. In addition, he can boast the 2009 singles world title, two doubles World Championships (2005 and 2009), and four team world titles (2004, 2006, 2008, 2010). He also won the ITTF Table Tennis World Cup three times (2007-08, 2010), and was runner-up three times. In regional competitions, Wang was crowned Asian Champion five times (twice in singles), and he won two Asian Games titles each in 2006 and 2010.
