Biography

Jakob Caironi raced both on the road and in cyclo-cross, riding mostly for the Radfaher-Verein Zürich. He won two Swiss titles, the 1925 amateur road race and the 1927 team road race. He was also second several times in major events – 1928 and 1929 Swiss amateur road race, 1929 Tour du Lac Léman, and the 1930 Swiss cylco-cross championship, after having placed third in that event in 1929. In the Tour du Lac Léman, Caironi competed again in 1930, finishing 6th. Caironi later started a brake business called Duralca, based on Oerlikon, and later sponsored a professional cycling team by that name.
