Biography

In 1959 Spanish cyclist Juan Sánchez won two golds at the Mediterranean Games in Beirut with victory in both the individual road race and the team road race. These performances earned Sánchez a place on the Olympic team for the 1960 Roma Games, where he finished eighth in the 100 kilometres team time trial. By 1962 he had turned professional, winning a stage of the Volta a Catalunya that same year. Sánchez also rode in three editions of the Vuelta a España during the 1960s with a best finish of 35th in 1966.
