Biography

Forward Gordon Orchardson started his hockey career with the Cartha Ayhletic Club and in 1905 made the jump from the second XI to the first XI. Despite being born in England, his father was the Sottish-born painter Sir William Quiller Orchardson and, because of his Scottish heritage, Gordon played for Scotland in the 1908 Home International Championship against Ireland and England before representing them at the London Olympics where Scotland finished joint third. Orchardson later moved to Kenya and farmed in Kericho, as did his older brother Ian.
