Heinz Schütz played field hockey for THC Klipper Hamburg, winning the West German Championship in 1952. He participated in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where Germany lost to the Netherlands 0-1 in the quarter-final. Schütz was also a member of the West German team that won the unofficial European Championships in 1954.
