Biography

Daniel Dagallier fenced for France at the 1952 and 1956 Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal in team épée at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He won five medals at the World Championships including a 1951 gold in the same event.

Dagallier studied law and initially worked at the French Ministry of Economic Affairs. He then became director and President of IFTIM, the Institute of Handling, before setting out on his own and becoming the pioneer of corporate logistics in France.

Dagallier created the first consulting firm dedicated to logistics, CERLIC, in 1969 and organized the first national logistics conference that year. In 1972 he created ASLOG, which later became French Supply Chain by Aslog. In 1972 he also helped create the first university institute of technology specializing in logistics and transport management, which trained generations of logistics professionals. In the late 1970s Dagallier created SITL, one of the top European showcases for logistics innovation.
