Biography

Sabre fencer Jörg Stratmann was a member of the West German sabre team at the 1984 Los Angeles. The team finished an unfortunate fourth and Scholz placed 22nd individually. Nationally, Stratmann won the individual sabre title in 1974, 1978-79, and 1984.

His father Günter fenced at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Jörg Stratmann later became a journalist, working with renowned newspapers like “Die Welt”, “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” and with the German Olympic Sports Federation.
