German fencer Hans Thomson competed in individual épée and the individual sabre at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals of both events. In 1928 at Amsterdam he reached the sabre individual final but finished 12th and last, while with the German sabre team he came in fourth. In 1921 and 1929 Thomson won the German sabre title. With FC Offenbach he won sabre team championships in 1923-25. His twin brother Julius also competed at the 1912 and 1928 Olympics.
