Biography

Attila Kovács was the son of famed Olympic fencer Pál Kovács, who won six Olympic gold medals between 1956 and 1960. Just four years after his father’s last participation, Attila competed in the Tokyo Olympics, but without medalling. He did medal numerous times at the World Championships between 1963 and 1973, winning the title in 1966 and 1973. He usually fenced on the Hungarian sabre team with his brother, Tamas Kovács.
