Biography

Alberto Chiesa played singles tennis for Switzerland at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics. He had a bye in round one and then lost in straights to renowned Frenchman Jacques Brugnon. Chiesa played a number of tournaments in the 1920s, without distinction. He competed at the World Hardcourt Championships and World Covered Court Championships in 1922, when those were considered major events. He played at Monte Carlo in 1921 and 1925, and in 1929, he competed at Villa d’Este, Trieste, and Berlin, always losing in an early round. His last known tournament appearance was at Merano in 1930.
