Biography

Iranian football defender Akbar Kargar Jam began his career with Rah Ahan before joining Taj SC in 1969. With the latter Kargar Jam won two league titles (1970, 1975) and the Tehran Football League (1972). In 1970 Taj SC won the Asian Champion Club Tournament with a 2–1 victory over the Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv in the final. From 1971 to 1974 he also made 30 appearances for the Iran national team, scoring one goal. In 1972 he was part of the teams that won the AFC Asian Cup and competed at the München Olympics. One year later Kargar Jam was named the Iranian footballer of the year.
