Biography

Jim Butler played table tennis at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. He was US singles champion in 1990, 1992, and 1993, while representing the Houston Table Tennis Club. His first major win was the 1986 Nissen Open over Thai player “Hank” Teekaveerakit. Butler competed at the 1987, 1991, and 1995 Pan American Games, winning five medals, with three team silvers, and bronzes in singles in 1991 and 1995. Butler is a member of the US Table Tennis Hall of Fame.
