Biography

Wayne Black was a Zimbabwean professional tennis player. He reached a career-best ranking of number four in the world as a doubles player in 2005. Black played with his brother Byron in the Davis Cup, as well as being paired with compatriot Kevin Ullyett in ATP tournaments.

Black won his first doubles title at the 1999 Dubai Tennis Championships with Sandon Stolle of Australia. Black won two Grand Slam doubles tournaments with victories at the US Open in 2001, and the Australian Open in 2005. In the mixed doubles he also won the French Open in 2002, and Wimbledon at 2004.

Black competed at three Summer Olympics; 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, and 2004 Athína. His best performance was in the doubles in 2004, when he and Kevin Ullyett reached the quarter-finals.
