Biography

Benno Groß was a member of the West German male gymnastics team that finished a respectable fourth at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He also placed 25th in the individual all-around but missed all the apparatus finals except the pommelled horse, where he finished seventh. He participated in the World Championships in 1978-79, and 1981. Domestically, Groß won four individual titles.

Groß was a policeman by profession and eventually worked as a sports instructor at the University of Applied Sciences for Administration in the Department of the German Police Enforcement Service.
