Biography

With four Olympic medals (one gold, two silver, one bronze) Angelo Parisi is one of the most successful judokas in Olympic history. Although Italian born, Parisi was raised in London after his family relocated there when he was three years old. He won a bronze in the judo open class in 1972 representing Great Britain, and then represented France in 1980 and 1984, following his marriage to a Frenchwoman.

In 1980, Parisi won the unlimited class title and placed second in the open class and in 1984 he won his fourth medal with a silver in the unlimited class. Parisi never managed to win at the World Championships, but reached 12 European Championship finals, winning six.
