Biography

Bruno Guse from Schwerin in East Germany lost his first bout at the 1960 Roma Olympics in the welterweight class against the eventual silver medal winner Yury Radonyak from the Soviet Union. Four years later in Tokyo Guse again lost his first bout, this time against Ričardas Tamulis also from the USSR. Guse won a bronze medal at the 1959 Europeans, and won his first East German national title that year, defending that title five times in a row through 1964.
