Biography

Vince Boveington was in the Weybridge boat beaten by Thames RC in the Olympic trial to see who should represent Great Britain in the eights at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He was, however, a member of the coxed fours, with fellow Weybridge men Harry Barnsley, Bernard Croucher, Thomas Monk, and John Townend. They finished second to France in their first round heat, and then second again to Switzerland in the repêchage to return home without a medal. A couple of weeks after the Olympics, the same crew won the NARA Senior Fours at the Walton-on-Thames Regatta. Boveington had a long career with the Weybridge Club, and was still rowing for them competitively until 1941, when he was 38-years-of-age.
