For more than 20 years Óscar Yuston was one of the best pistol shooters in Argentina. Yuston first began competitive shooting in the 1960s when he joined the Argentine federal shooting range in La Plata. In 1976 he was selected to compete at the Montréal Olympics where he finished 40th in the 25 metres rapid-fire event. His real success, however, came at the Pan American Games, where he won nine medals from 1975 to 1995, including gold in the 50 metre centre fire pistol in 1979. Outside of sport Yuston worked for the Ministry of Security for 30 years and as a graphic designer for a newspaper for more than 25 years.
