Biography

William White was a constable in the City of London Police. He was a pistol shooter and was one of two Britons in the 50 metres free pistol event at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Ronald Guy was the other and finished in 12th place, whereas White was 42nd. White was also considered for the 1956 Melbourne Games but never made the trip to Australia. He continued his competitive shooting until well beyond the age of 50, however, and in 1968 won the police pistol competition at Bisley when aged 55.
