Biography

Susan Knight was Australian diving champion on the springboard from 1960-66 and off the platform from 1961-64. In 1962, she won dual gold medals in both events at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth. She returned in 1966 to win a bronze in the springboard at that competition. Knight studied technical drawing as a student, and worked for many years as a draftswoman. She later married a Czech water polo player, Kon Cop, who moved to Australia and changed his name to Cope. After their marriage in 1971, Susan Knight-Cope earned a degree in sports administration and became manager of sports science at Macquarie University and later at the University of Western Sydney.
