Graham Dunn was a butterfly specialist who competed for Australia at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. As a youth he competed in both swimming and rugby, but stopped playing football to avoid an injury that would hamper his burgeoning swim career. Dunn set multiple Australian junior records and competed at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, winning a silver medal in the 100 metre butterfly.
Dunn used a Commonwealth University Scholarship to enroll in Sydney University Medical School, but he was greatly affected by the death of his sister in 1971 and turned to alcohol and drugs. Attempts at rehabilitation to return to his medical studies failed and he died from a morphine overdose in his Balmain apartment at only 23-years-old.
