Biography

Albert Taylor celebrated his call-up to the Great Britain diving squad for the 1908 Olympics by winning the open diving competition at the Zephyr Swimming Club’s gala at the White city two weeks before the start of the Games. Taylor was a member of the celebrated Neptune Divers who were well known for their diving exhibitions in the early part of the 20th century. The formation normally consisted of Taylor and his fellow 1908 Olympians, Alexander Beckett, Charles Cross and William Bull. Taylor was still part of the team in the mid-1920s, well beyond his 40th birthday. He also swam, mostly in Neptune SC galas, but also in team events for Neptune.
