Biography

Martina Jäschke was an East German diver who burst into the scene at the 1976 Youth Europeans when she won the silver medal on springboard. The same year she earned silver on platform at the East German nationals. In 1978 and 1981 she added gold medals on platform, winning four more silver medals and one bronze between 1977 and 1981.

At the 1981 Europeans Jäschke won silver and bronze and at the 1978 Worlds won silver on platform. Her greatest moment came at the 1980 Moskva Olympics, when she won gold on platform, while on the springboard she placed fifth. Jäschke studied sports at the DHfK (Deutsche Hochschule für Körperkultur) Leipzig and became a sports therapist in a rehabilitation clinic.
