Biography

Wolfgang Sieber from Leipzig in East Germany qualified for the 1960 Roma Summer Olympics, but was eliminated in the preliminaries of the 200 butterfly. In 1962 he won a bronze medal at the Europeans in his hometown. Domestically he won the national titles in the same event from 1957-59 and 1961. He also won five relay titles with his home club SC Rotation Leipzig in the 4x200 butterfly 1958-60, and 4x100 medley in 1957-58. He later regularly competed successfully in international senior swimming events.
