Biography

Breaststroke swimmer Vreni Eberle won a bronze medal with the West German 4x100 medley relay at the 1972 München Olympics. She also competed in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes at both the 1968 Mexico City and the 1972 München Olympics. In her hometown of München she reached the final of the 100 and finished sixth, and then retired at age 22 years directly after the games. She was affiliated with DSV München. In 1972 she won the West German title in the 200 breaststroke. Eberle later married Wolfried Hawe and raised four children. She was a trained physiotherapist and later became a swimming coach.
