Biography

Annegret Kober was a backstroke swimmer, who participated in the 1972 München Olympics. She finished an unfortunate fourth in the 200 m despite setting a new European record (2:23.35). In the 100 m she was eliminated in the semi-finals. She was also a member of the bronze medal-winning West German 4x100 medley relay squad, but swam only in the heats. The same year, 1972, she won her only national title in the 200 m backstroke. Just a few months after the München Games she surprisingly retired.
