Biography

German butterfly swimmer Bettina Ustrowski won the silver medal with the 4x100 IM relay at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics although she only swam in the heats. She also started in the 100 metres and the 200 metres individual events, where she was eliminated in the heats on both occasions. At the 1993 European Championships, she won a bronze medal in the 100 metres butterfly and a gold medal with the IM relay.

Ustrowski was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award, in 1993. The following year she won her only German national title, the 100 metres butterfly.
