Biography

German diver Albert Zürner finished an unfortunate fourth on platform at the 1906 Athina Olympics. Two years later in London he won the gold medal on springboard ahead of his teammates Kurt Behrens and Gottlob Walz. In 1912 in Stockholm he won a silver medal on platform and again finished fourth on springboard. In plain high diving he was eliminated in the heats. In 1920 Zürner died in a diving accident in Hamburg. In 1988 he was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame as a diving pioneer.
