Biography

Hatsuko Hirose-Kawai was a Japanese diver who competed during the 1950s and 1960s. In 1955 Hirose-Kawai became the national champion in the springboard event, earning herself a place on the Olympic team. At the 1956 Games in Melbourne she competed in both the platform and springboard events, finishing 11th and 16th, respectively. Over the next few years Hirose-Kawai had consistent results at the Japanese championships, which resulted in her selection for her home Olympics in Tokyo in 1964. At the Games she finished 16th overall after not advancing from the qualification round.
