Biography

Roar Woldum, representing the Oslo club Speed, started his career as a freestyle swimmer, winning the national championship title in the 400 free in 1951 and the 1,500 metres in 1952. He later specialized in backstroke, winning the national title at 100 metres in 1957-59. Woldum also won a national title in water polo. He ended his swimming career after the 1960 season. His Norwegian record in the 100 backstroke, 1:10.0 from 1957, stood for six years.
