Biography

Winifred Griffin had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1950 British Empire Games 4×110 yards Freestyle Relay (with the non-Olympians Joan Hastings, Kristin Jacobi, and Norma Bridson). She also competed in the 1950 British Empire Games 440 yards Freestyle finishing fourth and in the 1950 British Empire Games 110 yards Freestyle finishing sixth. In the 1950 British Empire Games she also participated in the 3×110 yards Medley Relay (with Jean Stewart and the non-Olympian M. Sweeney), but her team was disqualified. In the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games she was eliminated in the heats of the 110 yards Freestyle as well as of the 440 yards Freestyle.
