Biography

The 1924 and 1932 Olympic boxing referee and judge Harry Fowler held many positions within the world of boxing. Apart from being a judge and referee, he also managed British boxing teams and, as an administrator, was a member of the Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) Council, and also served them as honorary secretary and as a vice-president. Fowler also served on the Fédération Internationale de Boxe Amateur (now the International Boxing Association – AIBA).

Fowler was appointed secretary of Fulham Football Club for a brief spell in 1924, but for more than 30 years he devoted a large part of his life to Fulham Amateur Boxing Club, which he founded with the former amateur bantamweight champion Percy Jones. Fowler was secretary for many years and, sadly, the club’s demise came shortly after his death in 1945.
