Biography

Kristine Quance swam breaststroke and individual medley. She competed in three events at the Atlanta Olympics, winning a gold medal in the medley relay, and swimming the 100 breaststroke and the 200 IM. She also competed at three editions of the Pan Pacific Championships, winning four gold medals and seven medals between 1991-97. At the 1994 World Championships, Quance won a silver medal in the medley relay and a bronze medal in the 400 IM. She also swam at the 1998 Worlds, making the finals in the 200 fly and 200 IM.

Quance won 10 US titles, and in 1992 won all four events that she entered. She was twice named the Kiphuth Award winner as the highest individual point scorer at the US nationals.

Quance swam at the University of Southern California. She was a two-time recipient of the Honda Award, in recognition as the nation’s top collegiate swimmer. In 1996 she was named Swimmer of the Year at the NCAA Championships. Quance settled in California with her husband and family, coaching young swimmers at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena, California.
