Biography

Shirley Stobs finished fourth in the 100 metre freestyle at the 1960 US Olympic Trials, which qualified her for the 4x100 relay team in Roma. With that team she won a gold medal and helped them set a world record for the event. Stobs won one AAU title, in the 1959 100 yd freestyle. She competed at the 1959 Pan American Games, winning gold in the 4x100 freestyle, and a silver medal in the 200 metre freestyle. Stobs swam for the Miami Shore AC.
