Anne Warner

Anne Warner competed for the US at the 1959 Pan American Games when she was only 14-years-old but still won a gold medal in the 200 metre breaststroke. She was AAU Champion in the 1960 100 breaststroke and the 1959-60 200 breaststroke, both outdoors. She waited a bit to attend college, graduating with an associate degree from Foothills Junior College in 1974 and then earning a bachelor’s degree from Stanford while studying political science. Warner started her own public and community relations firm, Ann Cribbs & Company.

In 1996 Warner-Cribbs co-founded the American Basketball League (ABL), the first women’s professional basketball league in the United States, although it only lasted into the 1998 season. In 1999 Cribbs became President and CEO of the San Francisco Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee (BASOC). She later headed the San Francisco 2012 Olympic Bid. Under her leadership BASOC and the Bay Area of California have hosted multiple national and international sporting events.

Cribbs has served in numerous board positions, including Past President of the Northern California Olympians, Vice-President of the U.S. Olympic Alumni Association, San Jose Sports Authority Board Chair (1997-2000), founding Chair of WISE (Women in Sports and Events), as a member of the Advisory Council of BAWSI (Bay Area Woman’s Sports Initiative), the Advisory Board Member for the Women’s Sports Foundation, and on the Board of USA Table Tennis. She has been a frequent lecturer at Stanford University School of Business, the Sports Management Program at the University of San Francisco, San Jose State, and the University of Pacific. Cribbs has been inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame, the San Mateo County Hall of Fame, and the Menlo Atherton High School Hall of Fame.
