Biography

Donnalee Wennerstrom was a tremendous all-around swimmer. She won a gold medal in the 200 metre backstroke at the 1975 Pan American Games, and made the 1976 Olympic team in the 200 butterfly and 400 IM. Wennerstrom competed at Montréal while a high school sophomore at Chatsworth High School in California. She competed for the West Valley Swim Club, and later attended UCLA. While at UCLA, Wennerstrom met her husband, Joseph Carlson, who was a rower at the school. Their daughter, Kristen Carlson, would play volleyball at Washington State University.
