Biography

Carlton Bruner was a distance freestyler who swam the 1,500 metres at the 1996 Olympics. Bruner won bronze medals in that event at the 1993 and 1995 Pan Pacific Championships, and added a gold medal at the 1995 Pan American Games.

Bruner was from Atlanta, where he competed in the Olympics, and started his career with the Dynamo Swim Club. He attended the University of Florida, receiving five All-American honors, and winning NCAA titles in the 1,500 freestyle in 1992 and the 1,650 yard freestyle in 1993. Bruner later participated in celebrity swimming events with Swim Across America.
