Biography

A dentist from Zagreb, Branko Vidović was one of the most successful freestyle swimmers in Yugoslavia in the post-War years. He earned eight individual Yugoslav titles - in the 200 m freestyle (1946), 400 m freestyle (1945-46, 1951) and 1,500 m freestyle (1945-46, 1948, 1951), and added a number of relay and team titles. Vidović’s greatest moment in international competition came in 1950, when he won a bronze in the 4x200 m freestyle relay at the European Championships in Wien, with Andrej Kvinc, Mislav Stipetić and Marijan Stipetić. Two years prior, he had finished fifth in that event at the London Olympics.
